| Walked in from Waikiki. Fun hike with great views. There were not to many people at the summit but a lot were coming up. Great day only a few clouds and I would recommend this to anyone in the area | |

| While staying at Waikiki I hiked Diamond Head. The State Park and Monument trailhead are < an hour walk from Waikiki Beach and it's a worthwhile side trip. Water can be bought at stores along the way and even once in the park. Park entrance costs $1 if walking and $5 for a car. The hike to the peak is .8 mile, I'd say not too strenous, and includes four stairways. By my count they were 75, 99, 42 (a spiral staircase) and 56 steps to the top. Although ~ 1/2 the hike is on concrete the 2nd half become steeper, has switchbacks, and is uneven. There's a little bit of history, too, if that adds value for you. The views are great and, yes, it's touristy but once done you will know that every picture of Diamond Head shows a peak you've experienced. | |

| Climbed this one a lot from 1978-1982 while at Pearl Harbor. Back then it was "unknown" and very private. Views of Waikiki and Kahala are the best on the island. | |

| The summit views are pretty great. However, I wouldn't suggest going out of your way for this - there are better hikes to be found. | |

| Very fun little walk. It was crowded, but still enjoyable. One girl at the top had about 3 inch heels on... lol. We ran down after the stairs. Met a 77 year old lady along the way, she did the whole thing. At the top they were selling $2 certificates with a little seal on it and everything. It costs one dollar just to walk-in. Great views, even if it is a tourist trap. | |
