Diemberger is known to have climbed the face directly to the main and highest summit, which would be more left. This route goes to the Schneekuppe which seems to me the Huss-Müller-Gut route.

Diemberger actually climbed two different routes in 1958, One is shown in the picture, the other is the one you mentioned. Take a look here go-mountain
