Dinosaur Mountain from the SE

Dinosaur Mountain from the SE

Dinosaur Mountain, here seen from the southeast, catches the last rays of a winter afternoon. Rock formations from three of the five strata discussed in the main page can be distinguished. From west to east and from south to north:
  • Fee, Fi, Fo, and Fum belong to the Third Stratum;
  • Der Freischutz, the Hand, the Shark's Fin, the Finger Flatiron, the Box, and the Back Porch belong to the Second Stratum;
  • finally, Dinosaur Rock, Der Zerkle, and the Red Devil are part of the First Stratum.
Rossiter's guidebook and Mountain Project are good sources for the scores of routes on these sandstone formations. Please, be aware of seasonal closures. January 2005.
