| Climbed this on a perfect day. 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Took us just under 10 hours. We would have been out an hour earlier if we hadn't started climbing the slides, not realizing that the trail was just a little way up on the right. We saw a couple people coming down and a group of three at the summit that came up from Elk Lake. We were originally planning on bushwhacking in and hitting East Dix, South Dix, Macomb, and Hough, before hitting Dix and hiking out to Round Pond, but we only had one day. It was a tough hike, but it can be done in one day while still spending about an hour at the top. | |

| My second attempt at Dix. My first try I pulled a muscle and dragged myself out. This time no problems other than it was raining on top and no views, about half way down the skies cleared and was a beautiful day. | |

| Climbed from Rt.73 Great area! good views saw fresh bear tracks, a bright red newt and lots of cool stuff. the slides look awesome! I have to go back and climb those slides! | |

| Spent the night at Plattsburgh, and had a little bit too much fun. Woke up a bit late, and got a slow start. Ended up jogging ahead with one other partner and then hitting the straight up section. This mountain was tough. Climbed it back before I knew about crampons. So bear clawed it up the whole way. Super windy, and cold conditions on top. To this day, still was one of the hardest adk peaks i've done. But as always, still a fun time. | |

| The ridge from hough really should just have an established and maintained trail. The multiple herd paths are really making more of an impact. We came up Macomb slide and climbed East and South Dix and then up Hough and over to Dix. A nice approach. | |

| N. Ohanian and I joined with the Rochester Winter Mountaineering Society to do this peak in the winter. White out coditions on the summit, and sugar snow on the trail up. Solo in summer (3Xs in same weekend) | |

| Quite an interesting hike. We climbed from Elk Lake, up over the Beckhorn to the summit. Windy and chilly, but the view was tops. Went down toward Bouquet River trail, and bushwacked to climb down one of the slides.Took a well needed break at the Bouquet River leanto, then hiked out to the other car parked on Rt. 73.cool weather, no bugs, and lots of mud. Great trip. | ||

| Coming from Hough this is the climb that never ends. It's a long ways up and there is no water. Be prepared for that. | |

| After a struggle with fatigue, I finally made it to the summit of Dix where I discovered that I had forgotten to fill one of my water bottles! Tired, thirsty, and fatigued, I still had to descend well below Hunter’s Pass in order to find water. The descent into Hunter’s Pass was impressive and it seemed not too long until I found water. From there it was an uneventful hike back to the Elk Lake Trailhead. 5 High Peaks in 11 hours! Not Bad! This is me on the summit of Dix with the Great Range behind me. | |

| We got a late start and ended up racing the sun. If we had not just done the climb spur of the moment, we would have read that it was almost always a 2 day hike in winter. Not knowing this, and being young and macho, we left around 11 am and raced to the top and got back to 73 with our headlamps glaring around 10pm. Fun hike. Very steep and never ending. | |
