It almost looks alpine. I had a similar view from Defiance on Saturday.

Yeah, there is that nice little alpine meadow near the top on this one. I was almost going to do Defiance yesterday but looked like it was in the clouds most of the day. How was the trail? Someone posted that it had taken them 10 hours to do.

I think it was Ruckel Ridge that took 10 hours.



On the Defiance trail there was quite a bit of blowdown at the lower elevations. Snow level was around 2000 ft. Above 3000 ft it wasn't too bad with snowshoes. Light snow with little wind. From the top I could see into the Hood River Valley, but couldn't see the Columbia. It took just under 7 hours.

You're right about that thread, that is the one I was thinking of. Glad it didn't take you that long but 7 hours is still plenty long. Nice job on the climb. Defiance is a great one.
