Doug and Rob Yang had just...

Doug and Rob Yang had just climbed the right line in this picture; Calvin is leading up the left line with Kris belaying him. The ice was thin and covered with fresh snow but climbable. The line Doug just climbed probably had the thickest ice. (Conditions as of 1-22-06)

Doug's line

Actually in this pic I'm already up at the belay - the blue thing on Doug's route is the half of the rope I tossed down which got snagged on something.

Sometime after this shot Calvin tied in to the other end of Doug's rope and got a belay up, because the ice was too soft and thin. I cleaned his screws when I rapped off - rather marginal pro on that line.

Re: Doug's line

Oh no -- I mistook you for a coil of rope! I should be ashamed of myself! Now that I look at it, that makes a lot more sense -- that coil of rope is just WAY too small to be a person.

"rather marginal pro on that line" -- Yeah, I'll say! The whole time I climbed that line I was thinking "...sure glad I didn't lead this... sure glad I didn't lead this..." ;^)
