Downclimbing on ice

Downclimbing on ice

Mathew downclimbs the icy portion of the upper Clear Creek route on front points after we turned back. You can notice the solid rime ice crust on the surface. 07Jun2010

LaSportiva Nepals?

How are you liking your boots? Warm?

Re: LaSportiva Nepals?

Yes, Nepals. Perfect for the summer, and perhaps spring, depending on conditions. I was fine on Shasta that weekend, but my buddy complained about being cold. On Rainier a week later I got some superficial frostite on my big toe, but that was my stupid fault for lacing up way too tightly and not loosening until we got back to camp. They were cold that day, but still did the job. More than adequate for lower elevation spring climbs and higher summer climbs. Comfortable.
