Duchess climbing Harvard

Duchess climbing Mt. Harvard in the winter of 2006. It was a great day. You can see Mt. Columbia in the background. Mount Harvard is the third highest mountain in Colorado. Elevation 14,420 ft = 4,395 m.

Great dog
In Italy way up in the Apennines, I spotted a line of 4 sets of dog prints. Then I realised they were wolves.

Wow, I had no clue that they have wolves in Italy... I would imagine that soon (= a few hundred years) after the era of Romulus and Remus all wild canines were extinct...

The Apennine wolf is - Canis lupus italicus - a distinct subspecies. Info on Wikipedia. They are quite reclusive, though the Italian sheep dog (Maremma Sheepdog - Wikipedia) is something to stay away from. Very defensive of their flocks.

A Little bigger than ...

The Apennine is a tad biger than the USA coyotee's. They dont have the large prey so they dont get very big.
