Shari Glacier is probably the most accessible of glacial plateaus of Central Caucasus, although routefinding across the vast, shapeless rolling plateau may still be a challenge for the rookies.

Nonetheless this is where I chose to lead a group of beginners during my first stint as a club trip organizer, in July 1981.
