Smoky August  Sucess!

The access trail to the East Ridge was technically closed because they were doing construction work on the parking lot. We opted to leave early and climb anyways. Totally worth it. We started at 4:30 am. First time using crampons as we climbed the tongue of snow that descended from the saddle below the east ridge. We could have hiked up scree but I was not going to give up the opportunity to use crampons. There was lots of smoke from forest fires but as we climbed it cleared a little bit with altitude. The route went exactly as described in the route description. We reached the summit at 14:30. I was no where near as fit as my climbing partners! The descent was punishing on my feet as I had borrowed boots. My mountaineering boots were still in North Africa. The best mountain I have climbed so far!

East Ridge  Sucess!

Dry rock, but lots of snow on final summit ridge. Great day trip (11 hours car to car) with Trevor Bueckert and Steve McCartney.

Mount Edith Cavell  Sucess!

With Jason and Anton. Left parking lot at 1pm, summitted at 6pm, back to col at 9pm...tons of light left to head home, but took advantage of the mostly full moon and good company at the col for a peaceful bivy.
