As dawn's first light hits Echo Peak, we can see parts of the approach for the NE Face/E Ridge route. Ascend to the ridge above the waterfall. If you want to minimize elevation loss, stay high and ascend to the left or the right of the waterfall (the right side is easier, but both are Class 2 with spots of very loose scree). Then head left along the crest or drop a bit to bypass a tarn; either way, eventually gain the east ridge of Echo.
