The tower on the ridge is the Grossen Turm. The fixed rope section of the ridge is in the steep rocks to the right of the tower. See the Eiger page for more photos and orientation.

Which face...

What face do we see here is it the West-face seen from the st. eigergletcher? Would be better with the summit.

What you are seeing is a detail (telephoto?) showing part of Lauper Route (on the NE Face) with part of the Mittellegi Ridge in profile. The tower on the ridge is the Grossen Turm. The fixed rope section of the ridge is in the steep rocks to the right of the tower. This photo shows climbers starting the fixed ropes from the notch with the ice fields of the Lauper Route behind them. This photo shows a climber on top of the Grossen Turm from in the fixed ropes.
