Desert Mountaineering Adventure  Sucess!

This was my third trip to the top of the Dome. I decided to go light and trim the rack and climb in approach shoes. While I was happy with the small rack, the shoes added a level of interest that I wouldn't recommend unless you're very solid on less than solid rock. Another caveat: don't forget the sunscreen. Don't ask...
The statement on the main page claiming that you can do the whole thing in four pitches, while no doubt true, may be somewhat misleading. If you do this in four pitches you will be doing a lot of simul-climbing. We simuled a lot, and still took 6 pitches. I would estimate the linear climbing distance at somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500'.
