Wow!

What an awesome picture! That must have been incredible to see orca's up so close and hunting.

Come and get it!

There's a nice story here actually.

It was our wedding anniversary that day and we'd taken a bottle of wine out to the beach to celebrate in splendid/romantic isolation. The presence of this family of orca's in the area was well known and all the alpha type pro photographers were off on the other side of the island where it was supposed to be the place to see them.

Instead they popped up just a few metres away from where we were sitting obviously interested in dinner - seen in the foreground.

I snapped happily away with my little London Drugs Canon point-and-shoot and got this shot. The pros - one of who had chartered a FIGAS aircraft just to bring all his gear in - were green.

It all made for an anniversary to remember forever.

And by the way the whales didn't get fed. The sea lions were well aware of what was going on. As soon as the whales would drift casually in, they were out of there like a shot.

Anyway - glad you liked it.

Cheers, Martin

Re: Come and get it!

Your story is hillarous and made me laugh out loud. I could never tell from your pics that you don't have a $10,000 camera - they all look awesome to me!
