Fernerköpfl (3249m)

Fernerköpfl (3249m)

Fernerköpfl is a minor summit half way between Magerstein and Schneebiger Nock, the summit of which is just visible in the background. So far today I've ascended Magerstein from the Kasseler Hütte, and followed the ridge to here. Arguably the main importance of this peak is the trail junction just below the summit. Coming from the south, from the Rieserferner Hütte, the normal route to Magerstein first ascends the Fernerköpfl and then turns east. This route sees a fair number of people. But I'm not going to the Rieserferner Hütte, my next goal is Schneebiger Nock and then back to the Kasseler Hütte. I'm just hoping that the visibility doesn't get any worse... 1 August 2014.
