Ferns and Redwood Sorrel

Muir Woods May 23, 2013 Flowing ferns and redwood sorrel (often mistaken as clover) line the paths and trails in the Muir Woods. Redwood sorrel (Oregon Oxalis or oxalis orgegana) is the delicate plant that carpets the floor of the redwood forest. Many people call it 'clover' but it isn't. Many animals eat redwood sorrel, like black-tailed deer. Park visitors should stay on the paths so they don't destroy the plant. In many places this intriguing plant covers the forest floor in the heart of Muir Woods National Monument.
