Finally! The traverse...!
After about a thousand feet of climbing, and some minor searching, we enter the traverse. The cairn marks the spot. So does Bob. Our trail runs just below the gray cliff-band. At the notch (about three-fourths of the way across the image, to the left), we cross over, with the rest of the way being on the eastern flank of the Stoney Indian Peaks. This first section is quite a bit shorter in length, with less exposureexcept for one area of cliffsthan the other side. Photo by Vernon, September 7, 2007.
