First light on Avalanche...

First light on Avalanche Gulch. Note the recent rock fall. Normally these rocks heat up and melt through sinking in the snow/ice.

(On our afternoon glissade descent down the Gulch a large rock fell past us 30-40 feet to the right, stopping right in the glissade path about 40 yards ahead of us. We had to move it from the track. It was the size of two human heads and weighed 80-90 pounds. No doubt it would have killed if it hit one of us.) July 4, 2003
