Ah yes I should have added that in. I had left the path and headed straight up to the ridge line via a snow field due to my impatience. As I put my bag down and got out my camera the fox just appeared in view. I'm not sure if it was hoping for food or we just crossed paths. After about 10 mins of us wandering round in the general area together it wandered off down the north side and that was the last I saw of it. Much of the region is rarely visited and there are several biosphere reserves which are off limits so I expect there are many species which can do their own thing without fear of people. Perhaps when I do some reading and add in a flora and fauna section I'll be able to ascertain how lucky I was this day.
