Freeze Dried Bat, 5.10c

Freeze Dried Bat, 5.10c

Freeze Dried Bat- 60’-5.10c/ Scramble up a bit and then follow a crack that gets finger tight just under a broad roof (crux). Protect under the roof with large gear as you pull out onto the sparse left face and squeeze on through a loose section climbing to the anchor above. This route was quite dirty and must not see much traffic. We cleaned out a huge boulder and tons of sand. By far the toughest of the six routes at Bluff Street Cracks. Medium to large pro up to #4 Camalot. Freeze Dried Bat, 5.10c, Bluff Street Cracks, St. George, Utah, December- 2006.

What am I looking at?

I see a rope in the upper left, but the climber doesn't seem to be tied into it. What's up? I know you like to free solo stuff on occasion, but 5.10c is pretty serious!

I am enjoying your whole series... nice photos.

Re: What am I looking at?

Thanks Andy. Cam got jammed really good on lead, went back up to retrieve it...good beta photo as I suspect this roof section eats cams...the crack widens as it deepens,,,turned it around and pushed out with a stick...old Indian trick
