Fremont Peak   Sucess!

Parked at Canon City Royal Gorge Park (not to be confused with the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park). Short hike with absolutely amazing views of the Royal Gorge, the Wet Mountains, the tops of the Sangres, and a birds eye view of Canon City. Area is dry enough to be accessed nearly year round. Well worth the time if you are near Canon City!

Unique Climb  Sucess!

I hiked from a parking lot along the road to Royal Gorge and it was a very unique experience. There was an incredible amount of cacti and my boots had needles stuck in them afterward! I saw a mule deer and a group of turkeys along the way. The ascent up the ridge to the peak is very steep and I had to use my trekking poles on the way down. Great views of the gorge and surrounding area from the top.

Whoever put peppermints in the summit log jar is my hero! :)

Nice views  Sucess!

Climbed with my wife and one year old son. My son was in the backpack carrier. I summited all three of the sub-peaks including the highpoint Fremont Peak. Great views of the Gorge and Canon City.

Ridge from the north with Nonans  Sucess!

Holy MOSES, this is a beautiful desert hike, so close to Colorado Springs! Don't you DARE skip on Nonans peak, as the views from there are splendid and the ridge climbing to get there scenic and fun. Partners: Elissa & Jana, with Stimpy & Maggie.

Ridge from the north in low visibility  Sucess!

Visibility was TERRIBLE this day - foggy, snowy, etc. - and we could tell we were someplace scenic. I swore to return. On an interesting note, we followed a solo hiker who was in turn being followed (based on tracks) by a Mountain Lion. Upon arriving at the summit and signing the register, I discovered SP Member shknbk was the solo summitteer being tracked. Partner: Deb.
