Once heh... I remember very well, I was almost frozen in the middle of summer in Romania, in the heart of Fagaras range, where we were trapped in that refuge at Caltun lake waiting for a hellish wind and snowstorm to end, nothing changed for 3 days and nights...so we had to evacuate ourselves in that shit to Bilea Lac, these are my frozen summer memories from your gorgeous country:)

:)), :)), this is normal in fagaras, u never can know what will happened i know this well. Once in Fagaras i met 2 german guys they cant do anything cuz the wind was too powerfull (i was like a flag in all directions :)) ), u must have luck to have good weather many days ;). This picture is maded in september and last weekend 1,2 nov i had in same mounts Piatra Craiului a big sun and none snow or ice :).I hope u liked our mounts, are not so high but are so beautiful and i hope u will come back with pleasure ;). Windy Fagaras

Hi Tomek & Andreea,
The Fagaras just will be that windy then - I made half of the EW traverse in August 1977; first the wind nearly blew us off the ridge near Podragul; a couple of days later it was about to tear our tent, pitched by Lake Caltun, so we moved to the metal shelter, which got packed with people by midnight; as part of our team was female, we decided to descend to the south, towards Vidraru Dam (which of course was the beginning of another story:-)

Hi Jacek :).Ohhh so many time ago :), u have done the best thing in this situation cuz sometimes in Fagaras the bad weather remain many days and in summer can snow or... but with the wind wow its incredible, that german people laugh when my friends bound me with the rope cuz im too easy and realy i was like a flag where the wind blow i was too :)),but they saw when the wind take them down too :)). Anyway Fagaras is my favourite mountain from Romania if is summer or winter :D.

I also felt as if I was a flag, or rather a sail, because I carried a huge backpack with an external frame. It must have been about the time you were getting ready to be born :-) Now, I was just about to say your beautiful mountains haven't changed at all but- Have you seen this?

ohhhhhhhhhh its so sad cuz our forests was so beautiful like in fairytales, but this is real cuz of all shit people that want to become reach destroy our best treasure that we have: NATURE. I hate this, some try to fight against them but they are so hungry about money and power uffffffffff....and cuz of this in every year we have inundations and problems...so some of our mounts i can say with sadness are changed uffffffff...but are still beautiful and still u can find unchanged places if u know where to go :D.

– it would be hard for me to decide on my favourite: PiatraC probably, but there's also CE Fagaras; Retezat; Mehedinti... Well, I think I still know where to go but if I can ever manage again and I'm not sure, I'll know who to ask for advice :-)

yes its hard in winter cuz its exposed and have many cornice but soon i hope to come with pictures to this ridge in winter cuz winter will come soon :D.
