Full-sized version is here We started for our ski trip from the subdivision on Tallac's northeast flank. The route first goes up a small bowl, predominantly southwest. Quickly you need to turn almost due west to go up Tallac's northeast bowl. The route is hard to find from the bottom, but if you go high, you should see the "Molar-shaped flat" (my name) around 7400'. The easiest route up the northeast bowl is on the ridge to its north. Antoine Guitton and I climbed Mount Tallac in May, 2000, along the standard Southerly route. 4-8 inches of snow had fallen the previous night, and Gilmore Lake was still frozen solid. Amazingly, we had a sunny, nearly windless stay on the summit. The south slopes are a popular, easy ski descent.
