Gannett Peak Trip - Bergschrund

The infamous bergschrund of the Gooseneck Glacier, found on Gannett Peak in Wyoming. When I took this photo and crossed the bergschrund, the snowbridge shown at the bottom of this photo was still present. By the time I returned from the summit, the entire bergschrund was open. Photo taken on July 11, 2009.

Good shot

This shot shows not only the bergshrund but the steepness of the slope.

Actually, the slope seemed to get even steeper above this.

To put it in perspective for you, it was much steeper than the "Old Chute" of Mount Hood. Yikes!!!
