1st O Crew summit of the season Date Climbed: May 2, 2013
Climbed with GPI O Crew members Josh, Anders, Becky, Katherine, And Colin. Beautiful day, great views of the Livingston Range. The trail was steep, but the false summits were nowhere near as much trouble as previous summitposters have made them out to be.
Great views, until cloud cover reduced visibility to about 200'. Minimal snow until around 5000'. Postholed/waded through thigh deep snow to the "summit". During a brief clearing I looked back to discover I actually was several hundred feet shy of the true summit. No blowdowns to speak of on the exposed section of trail.
The name says it....spectacular views into Glacier National Park...relatively short 3.1 mile hike but parts of this trail were extremely steep...coming down much harder than going up..very rocky...many false summits were discouraging.
