This looks like an amazing area. There is too much to choose from when I think of the Greater Yellowstone area, but it looks like you make a great choice. I need to get over there. Nice report as always.

Thanks! I might suggest, for a first visit, a tour that takes you both through the park and also the major towns and cities in the periphery-- Jackson, Pinedale, Alpine, Dubois, Cody, Red Lodge, Cooke City, Bozeman, Gardiner, and West Yellowstone, for example-- not because there is anything in those towns I find too thrilling but because they are convenient for planning a tour of the region. Spend a day at or near each place, and on your way from one to another, do a hike or climb to get a taste of the different aspects of the ecosystem. Then plan future visits around places that inspired you the most.
