Up to Graybeard to classic route from Montreat on Graybeard trail. Saw an awesome waterfall on one of the switchbacks and of course the shelter, which is in great shape. Beginning of the hike is by far the steepest up to the old railroad bed. Beautiful day and great views to the north.
I came up Graybeard from Rocky Knob and descended by the Graybeard Trail on the above date, which is the date most of the pictures on the main page were taken. I've been up Graybeard a number of times, beginning in the late 1960s, and it's been a joy to see the fine job the Montreat Association is doing in keeping this mountain pristine and rewarding.
"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."
