Grays Peak from the False Summit

Grays Peak from the False Summit

The "Notch Gully" is visible below, but the highlight here is the view of Grays Peak and its southern ridge, which looks to be at least Class 4 by following the ridge itself (hint-- SP route page for that ridge needed, sense of adventure required). From Ruby, you can sit in peace and quiet and count (and sometimes hear) the many hikers on Grays who came up from Stevens Gulch on the other side. In my opinion, peaks like Ruby Mountain are so much more rewarding than higher trophy peaks like Grays. Front Range, CO-- September 2, 2007
