| We had fun hike with my sister-in-law, who lives in Vancouver. Forgot how humid it is in the Pacific NW so we sweat a lot! | ||

| I live at the top of North Van so have hiked nearly all the trails from the bottom to the top of Grouse/Fromme. The Grind is an okay workout, but I recommend at least the BCMC Trail, or better yet, check out "the cut" trail which follows the route of the original 1950's chairlift. It starts at the top of Skyline Drive in north van (there is parking there). After passing some historic fallen-over 60's ski cabins and pieces of the old chairlift, and a crashed american fighter jet engine, meets up with "the cut" which is the huge ski run up there. | ||

| Easy access and quick fun activity for a day. Did the grind in 1hr:04min with a 50lb. Pack so it made for a great workout! Good practice and starting point for bigger stuff :) | ||

| Up the Grind in a little under an hour. "Mother Nature's Stairmaster" is a nice phrase for this. | ||

| On vacation out there and had a day to myself while my friend worked, I took a few buses and a ferry up to the base of the mountain. I did the grind at a slower pace (an hour and 45 mins), stopping for lunch, and a few breaks here and there. I echo that this is truly Mother Nature's stairmaster, and I hadn't been on a man-made stairmaster in years! Lots of people on the trail, but never too many to distract from my solitude. I enjoyed my day up top, taking in lumberjack, bird, and other wildlife shows. Taking the gondola down was inexpensive, convenient, and provided great views as well. I was happy to do this mountain solo, very easily (as I climb most every other mtn with Tim). | ||

| Don Nelsen | Route Climbed: Grouse Grind stairway then the gravel road to the true highpoint. Date Climbed: Many, starting in 1998 ![]() | |
| This is mother nature's "stairmaster" with approx. 2,800 stairs of stone, 2x8's and tree roots up about 2,800 vertical feet to the restaurant/ski area. From there, it's about 400' more vertical to the actual summit. The record for the 2,800 vertical climb is about 28 minutes for men and about 35 for women; man, now that's what I'd call a workout! | ||

| While vacationing in Vancouver, I went up to Grouse Mountain and quickly hiked to the summit. It wasn't the best day for views, but a nice experience. | ||
