| Got to the trail head at 8. the trees were just starting to change colors so my hiking buddy decided to take a picture of every single yellow or orange tree we came across. Even with that we ended up going to the top and coming back down in 3.5 hrs. | |

| My recent 10-day excursion had this as my third HP stop (#8 total for me) and I guess it's part of what separates a novice hiker like me from more fit climbers. All those switchbacks and the rocky terrain - ouch! Totally worth it though to reach the top of Texas with its great views. Did it in the afternoon heat, which didn't help, and after walking thru Carlsbad Caverns in the morning, which probably didn't help either. | |

| Amazing views, remarkable variety in terrain. Camped at high camp overnight. Sunset brought high winds which continued through the next morning. Summited about 7:20 am and descended in beautiful weather. | |

| Late afternoon/early evening hike on a sick road trip from Boulder. Went to Carlsbad Caverns before this. Perfect temps, no wind, clear views. A great experience. | |

| Afternoon climb. 1 hour and 40 minutes to summit. Side trip to El Capitan. Ran out of water on the way back down. Very dry, good thing it wasn't any hotter. | |

| Took a break from the long drive across country from NY to CA so I could tag the roof of Texas. Great workout, even got to spend some time alone on the very summit. Of course, it was windy! :-) | |

| Third ascent. This time scrambled up the SW side, then intersected with and took the trail a few hundred feet from the summit. Climb took about five hours, we walked down in the dark. | |
