I would snowshoe in to Hoffer Lakes, but the climb would most likely require crampons. For winter, I would take the southeast ridge over the west ridge, since it is less steep. The west ridge would not be very conducive to a snowshoe ascent, since it is steep and rocky. Considering the area's repuataion for powder, I would certainly bring snowhoes. The Anthony shoreline trail is a nordic trail maintained by the Anthony Lakes ski area during winter. This may or may not present additional red tape. The Anthony Lakes ski area would also be a good place to get conditions information.
