H-5 First SAR Helo
The H-5(also known under S-51 and R-5 designations)was the first helicopter to be used for SAR. This example is the Coast Guard model with hoist,stokes litter and early non-folding rescue basket.(Photo taken at U.S. Navy Aviation Museum, Pensacola,FL.) This was the primary SAR helo during the 1950s for both military and civilians.
