Haleakala Sunrise

Not exactly a "SummitPost" kind of summit, this view from the summit of Haleakala is beautiful all the same. Going from sea level to 10,000 feet in only 38 miles by blacktop road makes it unique, too. Starting at a balmy 75 degrees to a frigid 37, I took this sunrise photograph using a 45mm lens. Applying layers in photoshop and two separate exposures enabled capturing the full dynamic range, which otherwise exceeded the capacity of my camera (D700).
