Harney Peak, SD (HP #16)

We arrived in the same mountain range as Mount Rushmore on the 4th of July to climb our 16th state highpoint of our record attempt.  We started up the trail just after 8am.  It's a heavily used trail as there is a really cool watch tower just next to the true summit.  To reach the true summit you actually go down to the "basement" of the tower and then scramble over about a hundred yards.  On our descent we probably passed 500 people coming to the summit.  A holiday weekend makes this one very busy place and we were glad to have gotten to the top early before the crowds.
