Clearly the Hogsback is shifting to the left. The standard route on Mt. Hood is now "the old chute"

What a change

Can't believe how much the upper mountain has changed over the last year or so. Makes hood a little more exciting!

Sounds like a good way to finish totally non-technical walk-up. Do you think there would be solid ice even in the spring?

I climbed through the gates on Sunday. I went climber's left (west gates)
It's a pretty steep and exposed treverse just to get to the gates!
Going through the gates isn't too bad except for a 6'to 8' section of near vertical water ice! If the truth be known it scared the hell out of me!
My guess is that it will be less of a technical climb in the spring.
