Hot Rock Penstemon (Penstemon deustus)

Hot rock penstemon grows on open rocky slopes and cliffs, generally on south exposures where it is hottest. It is widespread in such habitats throughout much of the western U.S. There are varieties recognized. Photo from Hells Canyon. May 1998
