Looks likekind of Boletus, I'm not an expert though. Here, in CE Europe mushroom picking (plus mushroom cooking) is a very popular outdoor activity. I get a feeling you don't normally go doing that, do you?

Re: Mushroom pickingHard for me to say, but many trail report I have read mention mushroom picking. I think it is a fairly common practice in the NW, though as I said earlier, I have never participated. Matt.

YesAs a teenager I used to go to the displays of the Puget Sound Micological Society in Seattle. But I rarely pick them, and only the most obvious ones.
