The Trip

Large Rock Formation
This short trip to Humpback Rock was fun and exciting with many boulders even though it took much less than a hour to hike up. Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway Humpback Rock is an easy hike with great rewards at the summit. We hiked on a fairly warm day for a January evening. The view was beautiful and the sunset was quite a site. We went here because the next day we would go skiing so we decided to come here not to waste time at the hotel since it was still not that late. There were deer on the field next to the beginning of the path and huge frozen waterfalls which were now giant icicles were along the Blue Ridge Parkway just a little above the parking. It took me a very short amount of time to started taking off my jacket because I was running up the trail to try and be at the top first since the trail is so short. Great rewards awaited us at the end of the trail with many slick boulders and short jagged cliffs. The day ended at out hotel below the Blue Ridge Parkway.
