Re: Good TR, Bob

I wish that could have happened, but since I'll probably be moving your way next June, we ought to have plenty of chances.

After you commented, I went back and added some quotes, inclusing one from Walt, from the infamous sunburn thread to add a little extra context. I still crack up whenever I think of that thread.

Great Climb

I did not see the sunburn. I will climb with you again as long as we do not have to do the Lithoid Cusp!

A pleasure to read!

Mutual respect, assured. Damned good writing here and the pictures kick ass! Also dug the references to that long-ago thread. Sometimes I still laugh when I read parts of it. Hope to catch you in the hills again some time -

Re: Nice Shots....

Thanks for looking! PnP has its value, though; it has brightened many a dreary day at work...

Good pictures!

Great article and shots! Got the opportunity to make my personal first trip to MT and Glacier two summers ago and I have to agree, it is definitely one of the most beautiful places in the US. Not that much altitude but the peaks are spectacular and the variety of wildlife and plantlife beautiful as well. Most certainly hope to make it back up there someday!

Re: Good pictures!

Thanks! I went nuts over Glacier the first time I went, back in 97. Since then, I've been back several times. I can't get enough of the place.

Re: love the report

Thanks-- that's a great compliment. I'm sure you'll love Glacier. Maybe you can sneak away this fall before the snows come in!

Nice report

Just read it because it caught my attention on the main page. Not something I'll probably ever be able to do myself, but I liked the pictures and the report a lot!

Re: Nice report

I hope you do get the chance to see this park. It is a colorful, dramatic landscape that simply amazes just about everyone who sees it. Thanks for reading!

Re: DUDE....

Look at it this way: if our wives did meet, they could complain about SP all day and we could sneak away to climb something in the meantime!

speaking of REI going soft...

I was searching for information about REI's gear rentals yesterday, and here's what I got:

http://ow.ly/i/4p

in case the link doesn't work - it's a screen shot of my google results, showing a review talking about REI's "cute outdoorsy clothes for babies."

Ugh.

Re: speaking of REI going soft...

I guess with the growing popularity, the company inevitably is going to stray from its purpose (sounds a little like a certain website I spend too much time on). The REI reference is actually more a reference to an amusing thread from a few years ago, though what it says does have a good deal of truth to it.

Uh-huh!

Forget it, mister. I was the guy who "got the sunburn to prove it" on Shasta that day. I was purple, it was like being microwaved. Funny how an innocent little remark mentioned on a thread can be remembered.

Nice report.

Re: Uh-huh!

One of the best threads ever-- even though it came about from someone posting an e-mail from you, it grew into a legend. Good to see you back here-- I recognize you from Aaron's recent TR. Thanks for reading this little blurb inspired by your immortal words!

(By the way, the thread is gone because the person who posted it got kicked off the site and all the threads he started disappeared with him; he's back, but the other stuff is gone for good.)
