It's a place that you never want to leave. Though beware, when it warns in the distance, get down fast. Once I had to run for cover when nearly down. Horizontal hail at 100 miles and hour. Pay attention to a mountain's mood. Always. Pizzo Intermesole and Monte Corvo, in the background.

Indeed, the best years of my life with all the many trips to Italy during my work.

The Apennines are quite special. The Region of Campo Imperatore (The Emporor's Camp), is the most dramatic, here.

But also go on the road from Avezzano to Sora, and see the towering mountains rise above. Super villages to stop and eat - Civita d'Antino high on the mountain with awesome views.
