Re: Which Route?

This was actually a side tract to a visit to Mount Washinton. I can't recall exactly where near Mount Washington that this was located. We had a blast on the ice though. Do you climb Mount Washington area alot ? I love that area and plan on climbing some late summer / fall. I live in Northern Virginia and it's about a 10 hour drive but well worth the time.

Re: Which Route?

Ah...I was going to say, it didn't look like anything on Mt. Washington (which is why I asked). Were you on Rte. 302 or 16? Frankenstein is a pretty popular ice climb...

Depending on the weather, I try to be up there a minimum of 4-5 times a year. For Huntington climbs, obviously nice weather rules out. For extreme weather treks (which I like a lot....nobody else is usually dumb enough to be on the mountain), the Lion Head Winter Route is key.....as well as being with a partner who's extremely familiar with the terrain.

Northern Virginia is quite a haul.....I live about 4 hours or so away myself. My next trip up there will probably be the middle or end of August, and head up Huntington...then maybe another in September, and then wait for winter to "arrive".
