Ice climbing approach

This is the parking area for the approach to a famous Canadian ice climb (Hydrophobia, 150m V WI 5+) from the Waiporous wilderness area. It involves about a 50km logging road, after which 19km of driving sometimes on steep cutlines with deep ruts - tire chains are often necessary and many vehicles do not make it all the way. The crux is a deep creek crossing that is sometimes not well-frozen, and breaking through the ice is a real danger. A friend of mine spent the whole night digging and winching there the week before I went, due to such an incident - we were lucky and it held together due to cold temperatures. After parking, the approach involves another 45 minutes to an hour of bushwacking through dense forest to reach the icefall. There is usually no other person in a radius of 50km and no phone coverage - this is a very remote and rarely visited area and you're fully on your own! This is a '84 Toyota LandCruiser with a 4-cyl 3B diesel engine.
