Illinois' Highpoint

Illinois' Highpoint

Charles Mounds, 1,235' above sea level, is Class One and our country's 45th highest state highpoint. Climbed on September 3, 2006. Fortunately, the Owners provide lawn chairs enabling weary climbers to rest after climbing the highest parcel of real estate in the Land of Lincoln. Climbers desiring to achieve Illinois' highpoint must ascent 75' from the trailhead. Charles Mounds has a very limited climbing season like Mt. Everest since it's located on private property. Verify accessibility prior to commencing climb.
