Pondering the Knife Edge
A climber who was ahead of us ponders his options for taking on Capitol's knife edge, the crux on one of Colorado's hardest fourteeners.

Hi, what the classification of this route/mountain? Looks steep to me!? and i see no ropes of gear!? Mayby it looks harder then it is! Greets, David

This is route considered class 4. For many it is considered Colorado's hardest 14,000' peak. The ridge is certainly exposed, but it is relatively flat to traverse and it is solid. It is not as bad as it looks, though certainly scary for those not used to exposure! The face beyond also has some class 4 climbing, less exposed but a little loose in places. If you get the chance to climb in Colorado, I highly recommend this peak!

Thanks Ryan! We were there nice and early in the morning, so the shadow really helped to define the edge of the ridge. Sometimes you get lucky I guess! I don't even know who that guy in the picture is, hopefully he has seen this site and saved the pic for himself.
