mountains Quebec

mountains Quebec

I picked this up from Google. The image is from LIFE magazine and depicts what are deemed as mountains in Quebec . While some mountains could be by such a name, the location given is..Quebec... I posted the image since it is clearly indicated that such an image can be USED for NON COMMERCIAL purposes... Hopefully someone at Summitpost can do some homework to uncover the actual location of the image... (most probably there is an error ... ) Press on the image for full size Notice the pine trees...(some of the people seem of dark complexion..) After superficial investigation of landsat satellite images several candidates spring to mind including some places in relative proximity to the town of Sept-iles. I have also uncovered an impressive image of a mountain in the Chic Chocs (In the Gaspésie région). Since pine trees have a northern limit I guess that if the mountains are in Quebec we'll have to look south ! (which makes me grasp that either the image is associated with the wrong place, or the hot springs kept the pines in shape ! ) Folks , please bear to mind that everything is relative in the sense that there could be hills 4000 feet high which look like rocky mountains ! What counts is the vertical drop. Although I doubt that a 3000 foot vertical can give such an image... http://images.google.com/hosted/life/f?q=mountains+Quebec&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmountains%2BQuebec%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG&imgurl=437da5f473911a7a

Weisshorn in the corner?

Been to the Chic Chocs and past Mont Megantic.
and scarcely anyone lives around Mont D'Iberville- no trees there either, so my guess is the Alps.

Thanks for the feedback !

The image is from november 1953 ... The article on mount Everest is for..July.. Maybe there was some confusion. Although the picture is part of a potrtfolio describing somewhere in Quebec...

Thus the faint possibility exists that there is something to uncover in the outback of Quebec !

I posted the link to the image and have also included (on an other image) satellite imagery of the Groulx hills in the Manicouagan region which from space do seem as a likely candidate...(and how about immediately west ?...)
