From Cameron Pass
Started around 11:15AM. Bushwhacked immediately up the ridge. Followed ridge all the way to summit. Ridge was mellow with a few gusty dips. Descended from summit directly into trees and merged with Michigan Ditch to go back to trailhead. Wore snowshoes the entire route. Back around 4PM.

From Cameron Pass
Hiked up through snow in the trees to northwest ridge. Went over "Table Iron" along the way. The ridge was dry with snow cornices built up on the east side. Beautiful views of Nokhu Crags and Richtofen looked "pointy" from this angle. Headed down toward Thunder Mountain and found the descent to be easy enough with the sandy soil conditions for plunge stepping.

East Ridge
From the Never Summer Trailhead at La Poudre Pass via the East Ridge, descended via south slopes to Neota Creek.
What and excellent area. Very beautiful view of the northern part of the Never Summer Range. I would love to do alot more exploreing in the Never Summers because of the views from Iron Mountian.
Route Climbed: West ridge via Trap Creek Date Climbed: October 2, 2005
Began from Trap Lake TH and followed Trap Creek until bushwack W up to open tundra ridge. Followed this (fun walk, great views of Trap Creek) around to west ridge and then up. Descended more directly to Trap Creek. Steady strong wind above treeline, but not too bad.
Route Climbed: North ridge and west gullies Date Climbed: May 22, 2004
Climbed with Andy, who suggested this peak, and my friend Jeff. Left our snowshoes at the car, which was the right decision, but the inevitable and predicatble postholing followed. Escaped from loose screen of the west face by climbing firm snow to a 3rd class gully between cliff bands to the north ridge. We were apparently the first party to summit this year. A stiff wind greeted us.
Fantastic views in all directions, especailly to the west and south, Iron Mountain being near the intersection of the Never Summer and Mummy Ranges.
