The initial section of the climb was super easy. No rope needed, unless you don't feel comfortable with the exposure. There are 2 set of slings above this short section of climb, and then you traverse below the main cliff.

but I don't stop for hitchhikers. The suction cups are not rated for more than just yours truly.

Well, I usually stop for hitchhikers in the mountains, and pretty much always when driving around Europe. :)
I myself have not hitchhiked for more than 25 years now...
