Hey Jack...did you haul that big flag up Quandary or had it been there? Poor flag won't last very long.

Re: Hey Jack...Flag was there. Hope the person who brought it up realizes a torn battered flag is not cool and plans on removing or replacing it. I often bring a flag for a photo op, but bring it back down with me.

Re: Hey Jack...Same issue with the flag on Peak 1's summit . Although the folks whom set up the flag on Peak 1 seem to have spent a little more time doing it. That setup has been up there since 9/11 and every season the flag is replaced with a new one.
Not real into the idea of a flag up on Quandary, a mountain that sees its share of visitors. That's all we need; flags popping up all over our 14ers, setup by easily influenced, Quandary visitors.

Re: Hey Jack...Nice idea on peak-1 to commemorate 9/11. I'm a retired FDNY
Firefighter. We lost many good people that day. However, in most cases, if someone brings a flag for a photo op they should bring it back down. A torn and tattered flag is a disgrace, (I;d like to meet the creep that burned the flag on Peak-1 anytime, anyplace)

Re: Hey Jack...What do you mean, "easily influenced"? Just curious...

Re: Hey Jack...I'm guessing Quandary's summit sees as many as 100-200 visitors a week, maybe more. It's just a matter of time before someone sees that flag and thinks its a cool idea for another mountain. Sorry for the confsion, good question. Todd, I know you are photgraphy guy, your work is excellent.

Re: Hey Jack...Hey Todd, Kane mentioned you are a photographer. Do you have a web site. I'd like to see your stuff. Jack

Re: Hey Jack...Of course, retiring the U.S. flag is usually done by burning it, but in a respectful manner. I'm in charge this year (and last) of the flag retirement that Boy Scouts do in the Oklahoma City area. Here are a few images (among other events) of last year's Veterans' Day Flag Retirement; over 1200 flags were retired:

If anyone ever has a worn U.S. flag and they don't know what to do with it, look up Boy Scouts in the phonebook and give them a call.
