| I decided to make a stop in the Roan Highlands on my way to the Smoky Mountains. It was a relatively hot day, and views were limited by haze, but it was still gorgeous up there. I decided to take a little walk, and the next thing I knew, I was at top of Round Bald and on my way to Jane Bald. | |

| Interesting to see a fence containing sheep on the top. These sheep are expected to eat the grass on the balds in order to ensure the balds stay, well, bald. Currently the balds are starting to be overrun by woody plants such as a berry tree. | |
