Rafaqa - Friendship  Sucess!

I was making a solo ascent of Jebel Assat in Massif de Tichoukt. It was a straight forward climb in clear weather. As I was descending two local government representatives from the nearby communities were waiting in the upper valley for me by the fresh water spring. They were concerned that I had not notified them of my climb and that I was climbing solo. They told me a local proverb (either Amazigh or Arab):

One hunts alone and is blinded because there is no one to help remove poison from his eyes.
Two hunt together and one dies because of conflict.
Three hunt together and this is true Rafaqa (friendship) because even if two fight there will be one to mediate.

In other words, I should have climbed with others! It was fun to learn this proverb and I also assured them that I had been giving updates to my wife on my location and progress and that this was a climb well within my skill set. I think this is my favorite mountain in the Middle Atlas of Morocco!
